No Niemans were found in the 1860 census for St. Lucas. I did not research the Winneshiek Co. census records. John married Mary. Mary was born in 1819 in Preußen and died before 1885. They had two children: John and Joseph.

census in Washington, Winneshiek Co. In 1885, John was a widow and lived in
Arcadia, Carroll Co.
2-John Nieman Jr. was born from 1837 to 1845 in Preußen. John married Dora. Dora was born in 1855 in Preußen. They had three children: Robert, Maude, and Anton.
3-Robert Nieman was born in 1875. No draft card was found for him.
3-Maude Nieman was born in 1880 in Iowa.
3-Anton Neiman was born on 15 Feb 1883 in Iowa, died in 1926 in Carroll at age 43, and was buried in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery. His draft card shows he was a farmer in Carroll. His nearest relative was Mrs. Josephine Neppl.
2-Joseph Nieman was born in 1840 in Pennsylvania.
